Someone already made a patch, and it was accepted.  If you don't test the 
patches yourself there is a good chance they are broken, at least for bigger 
changes.  Getting a copy of the appdb is very easy, just do

export CVSROOT=:pserver:cvs(a)cvs.winehq.org:/home/wine
echo "The password is «cvs».";
cvs login
cvs -z 0 checkout appdb

Then read appdb/README
