Still present in wine-1.9.4-130-g215e2d7. The game starts fine with native urlmon (installed via ie7). Maybe bug in CreateURLMoniker (some calls to this function just before error appears)
With pure wine it now gives some ole error at start. The code is 80040154, there are few similar bugs open about ole error popup message. After winetricks -q flash it complains it can't open some file like mentioned here before. But I dont see that ole error. and with winetricks -q ie8 I am able to play the game.
