The problem occurs when shader quality is set to medium or high (with low quality I can't see those artefacts.) Nvidia GeForce 250 GTS / driver 260.19.36 here. I must add that I can't reproduce the problem with Wine-1.3.12 (or earlier): it appears to be a regression. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugs.winehq.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are watching all bug changes.

Does winetricks glsl-disable happen to work around it?
Nope. Disabling vertex shaders does workaround the issue (but it disables most of the nice effects in the game). Here's the result of my regression test: 91ac0c37b1f36978d8bf974daf24ad9c77d49d6f is the first bad commit commit 91ac0c37b1f36978d8bf974daf24ad9c77d49d6f Author: Henri Verbeet <hverbeet(a)codeweavers.com> Date: Mon Jan 24 18:41:16 2011 +0100 wined3d: Disable vertex shader output clamping. It looks like NV50+ hardware gets you infinities and NaN's in D3D as well for most things, so we should only need special handling for pow and nrm. Already mentioned in bug #25965. The patch can be reverted cleanly on Wine-1.3.16 and that fixed the problem for me. The same commit causes similar visual glitches in Spellforce on my system, when shadowtype is set to 'normal' in the options menu: tall, black column-like objects appear on the screen in Spellforce. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugs.winehq.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are watching all bug changes.

I can't reproduce this problem anymore on Wine 1.4 RC5 (NVIDIA driver 295.20) and this time I haven't forgotten to set the shader quality to high. I have even checked other areas where the bug is appearing but all is looking fine.
I suspect the fix came from the Nvidia driver update (->295.20) not from Wine. I'm also running 1.4-rc5 but with the previous Nvidia driver (290.10) and the problem is still there. Can you show us which commit fixed it (by running a regression test)? -- Configure bugmail: http://bugs.winehq.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are watching all bug changes.

Shall I compile and test every commit? I think it would be easier if you try to upgrade your NVIDIA driver first. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugs.winehq.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are watching all bug changes.

Fedora 16 still has 290.10 for a reason. Alternatively, you can run Guild Wars with previous Wine versions to see if the problem exists for you now that the driver has been updated. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugs.winehq.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are watching all bug changes.
http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=26490 --- Comment #16 from sworddragon2(a)aol.com 2012-02-26 13:46:16 CST --- I have now downgraded the X-Server/NVIDIA driver from version 295.20/1.11.4 to version 280.13/1.10.4 and I can reproduce the bug again. It seems this is really a driver problem. If Fedora will update the X-Server and/or NVIDIA driver the problem will be maybe solved for you too. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugs.winehq.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are watching all bug changes.
