Pekka, despite that you are talking about v1.00 (and not v1.09) I can offer try
using my patch [3], which helped me from a crash in libGL.so in 8 bit video
mode.  It maybe incorrect patch, but it worked for me. ;)

No, it didn't help me, but you can never know about another box and its setup. :-)
