You should try 'winetricks nocrashdialog' and Wine will hopefully produce the backtrace. So far I couldn't reproduce the problem with the demo: it runs from a clean wineprefix, only native d3dx9_33 + d3dx9_35 (or simply d3dx9_36) were needed. I can't say in my case if the game crashes later. Also attached the game log with 2 messages regarding exceptions.
