[Bug 36788] New: Wine doesn't show anything with Photodex slideshow
http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=36788 Bug ID: 36788 Summary: Wine doesn't show anything with Photodex slideshow Product: Wine Version: 1.7.20 Hardware: x86 OS: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: P2 Component: winex11.drv Assignee: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org Reporter: ostash(a)ostash.kiev.ua CC: julliard(a)winehq.org Regression SHA1: ea07c310ecfee6b301e7af8413760eb446e6f184 I have one exe file which seems to be Photodex generated slideshow application. It used to word perfectly with Wine in 2010-2012, but when I tried to run it recently I got no output on screen. Sound plays fine, and it looks like application window is created (it is present on taskbar), but there is no window, no borders, no title, no output. Well this slideshow runs fullscreen, but anyway no output. I've managed to bisect this problem to: ea07c310ecfee6b301e7af8413760eb446e6f184 is the first bad commit commit ea07c310ecfee6b301e7af8413760eb446e6f184 Author: Alexandre Julliard <julliard(a)winehq.org> Date: Tue Sep 4 13:34:15 2012 +0200 winex11: Create the whole window at window creation time. :040000 040000 62dd63d6f45078b96e4305d60fe8d1b7386b1bc0 c02b6dc1c8940fc75d22753888c3fba415848f38 M dlls Unfortunately code changed too much from that time, so git revert patch can't be applied. -- Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. Does the bug still occur with wine-5.0-rc1?
There is no 5.0-rc1 in Gentoo yet. Just checked latest present 4.21 - bug still reproduces. -- Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

Wow! Indeed, just emerged wine-vanilla-9.22 in Gentoo and it works! It took a bit longer than I expected, but now I hope that my kids/grandkids would be able to enjoy this slide show :) (Unless it gets broken again, so I promise to retest once in a year :)) -- Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. It worked, but only because for the first test I emerged minimal wine without OpenGL support. After enabling OpenGL (and rebuilding Mesa for having 32bit drivers) - it stopped working with same behavior as previously - no window, no borders, no title, no output. Console is spammed with: 011c:fixme:d3d:surface_cpu_blt Filter WINED3D_TEXF_LINEAR not supported in software blit. -- Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. Extra update - this time I've managed to notice that application icon on KDE task bar has its own menu, which is provided by the application itself, and this menu has "Full screen" option - if I click on it and uncheck it - application goes to the window mode where it actually works! What is more interesting: clicking "maximize" on the window title bar brings application to full screen mode again where it works correctly; but right click on the title bar and selecting "Full screen" again - doesn't work. P.S. I'm on KDE Plasma 6.2.4 with kwin_x11 window manager. Anyway, it looks that I'm able to see the slideshow under Wine with some workarounds, so I'm leaving it up to Wine maintainers whether this needs to be investigated further. -- Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply.
