Not major. Please retest in 1.7.30. Is there a demo/download of this available?

I am well aware that it's a zip file containing the setup.exe. (I am a registered user of TextPad since 2006.) Think that I found the problem. TextPad will crash if it can't find some of its crucial components, the location of which are pre-defined in the "Folders" section of their configuration "Preferences".
