i run cs 1.6 with wine and i am unable to minimise it .the the linux desktop
flashes for a second but then the game returns to top.this is bad if the game
/application crashes because i am unable to shut it down and i am forced to
reboot

What window manager? Please upgrade to new Wine version and try again. It works
fine for me with KDE 3.5

most linux native applications can be minimised ,but windows applications are
incompatible with gnome desktop,because they don't know how to interpret data
received from gnome.
this bug is still present even in the latest version of wine
