http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=25367 Niko Sandschneider <nsandschn(a)gmx.de> changed: What |Removed |Added ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- CC| |nsandschn(a)gmx.de --- Comment #5 from Niko Sandschneider <nsandschn(a)gmx.de> 2010-12-04 09:07:07 CST --- WebDicty starts up fine after 'winetricks vbrun60'. It is not possible to enter anything in the UI, but that is a different bug. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugs.winehq.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are watching all bug changes.
http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=25367 --- Comment #6 from Niko Sandschneider <nsandschn(a)gmx.de> 2010-12-04 09:11:08 CST --- I take that back. It is possible to enter something in the UI after all. But one hits the (invalid) bug 23117, which can be worked around by 'winetricks wsh57'. After that it seems to work perfectly. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugs.winehq.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are watching all bug changes.

Could you please tell me how do i install those tricks? And also (if you could) explain why they're not enabled by default?
See http://wiki.winehq.org/winetricks They're not enabled by default because they are either hacks, or install windows dlls that wine just tries doesn't implement atm -- Configure bugmail: http://bugs.winehq.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are watching all bug changes.
http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=25367 --- Comment #9 from jpxsat <jpxsat(a)gmail.com> 2010-12-12 10:17:28 CST --- Ok. It works with winetricks but it's a "dirty way" to do it, as said on winetricks page. Is there any plans to look at this bug to make the program work in a "clean way"? -- Configure bugmail: http://bugs.winehq.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are watching all bug changes.
http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=25367 Dan Kegel <dank(a)kegel.com> changed: What |Removed |Added ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- CC| |dank(a)kegel.com --- Comment #10 from Dan Kegel <dank(a)kegel.com> 2010-12-12 14:37:15 CST --- vbrun60 is not really a dirty way; it's the only way because implementing the visual basic runtime is out of scope for the wine project. It is in fact safe (modulo EULA concerns) to always run winetricks vbrun60 when creating a wineprefix, but it's not something wine's going to do for you. Now, you said that the app worked perfectly in wine-1.2. Please retest by installing wine-1.2, deleting or renaming your ~/.wine directory, and installing the app afresh. If it works, then probably the app bundles the vb runtime, and newer wine is botching its install or something. But it seems more likely that it won't work, and it used to work because you had installed the vb runtime before but forgotten about it. If that's the only verb needed, and the app really doesn't bundle that library, then this bug can be marked invalid for now. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugs.winehq.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are watching all bug changes.

Is this still an issue in wine version 1.6-rc3 or higher or is this to be closed as abandoned ? -- Configure bugmail: http://bugs.winehq.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are watching all bug changes.
