playing age of empires results in

err:ntdll:RtlpWaitForCriticalSection section 0x558ef4a4 "?" wait timed out in
thread 000a, blocked by 0000, retrying (60 sec)
err:ntdll:RtlpWaitForCriticalSection section 0x558ef4a4 "?" wait timed out in
thread 000b, blocked by 0000, retrying (60 sec)

it freezes almost immediately after starting.
