about the DEMO, i see only white screen and after some time wine bug window
I just tried the demo, doesn't crash for me, but the graphics is totally meshed up.

Maybe that might be a problem. I'm not sure what distro you're on, but i remember that when I had an ATI-card the proprietary drivers from ATI worked way better (on Fedora that was called kmod-fglrx IIRC). A crash occurs when I change any settings on the Options->Device page. I've opened bug #31747 for the issue. Please re-test and confirm the fixed state.
