Does this happen with upstream (non-staging) wine?

What kind of setup do you have? (distro, GPU, driver, etc.)

I've noticed I had the very same error with another game (Forager).
Recently I've updated my nvidia driver related packages from nvidia-driver-460
to nvidia-driver-470 and the issue has just gone, both games work fine now!

Ubuntu 18.04
GPU: nVidia GP104 [GeForce GTX 1070 Ti]
