* Is there some version, which runs OK? AppDB does't mention such problems I've tried every version of wine from 1.1.38-1.1.43 with X3TC 2.5 I've tried X3TC 2.6 on 1.1.43-1.1.44 All with the same problem exact same problem For some unknown reason it has stopped again

it appears to be doing something in the mov/00002.dat file and eventually just cracks it Remember those billboards with fictional in-game advertising? That's it, 00002.dat contains this advertising. It looks like Direct3D problem with placing video on shapes.
I suggest that you remove 00002.dat completely.
