I thought this was probably wrong and that the cab file needed to be uncabbed. This I did in /usr/share/wine/gecko/. Wine could still not find it. I then found the entry in user.reg which pointed to C:\Program Files\gecko. The relevant bit of user.reg is:
[Software\\Wine\\MSHTML\\0.9.1] 1242244459 "GeckoPath"="C:\\windows\\gecko\\0.9.1\\wine_gecko"
These registries are strange and shouldn't exist. Do they exist on fresh wine prefix? If yes, what distribution do you use?
