[Bug 59435] New: No windows elements categories (in Construct 2 r280, probably generic problem)
http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=59435 Bug ID: 59435 Summary: No windows elements categories (in Construct 2 r280, probably generic problem) Product: Wine Version: 11.3 Hardware: x86-64 OS: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: P2 Component: -unknown Assignee: wine-bugs@list.winehq.org Reporter: gsw.eugeneulan@gmail.com Distribution: --- Created attachment 80409 --> http://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=80409 3 images combined for bug description There are no elements categories in Construct 2 editor windows where they should be. Instead of expected categorized views for plugins, behaviors, effects, events and expression dictionary (where I've noticed it so far) they are all displayed as a whole in their own window, making navigation and selecting the correct item harder. I'm naming it "probably generic problem" as I've noticed it in the Construct Classic's insert object dialog as well, and I suspect that every Windows program making use of this exact element has the same issue, as it is may not be fully implemented in Wine's code. To see reproduced problem in application itself: 1. Install the latest Wine development version (11.3) along with Mono & Gecko dependencies (as it has requested me to do); 2. Download the latest ever Construct 2 installer from this direct official link: https://downloads.construct.net/construct2/261/construct2-r280-setup.exe SHA-256: f331a31320be71135bfb0df0bf6b7442fe416062bdf726b436120dbfa0a20338 3. Run the installer in default Wine prefix and follow through all wizard's steps; 4. After program runs for the first time, you can select any "Check for updates" setting if requested (personally I select "Don't check" as the program has no official support either way) and create a new project (one quick way to do so is press Ctrl + N, then Enter); 5. You can now call one problematic dialog right away. Either double-click somewhere on the layout, or right-click and choose "Insert new object"; 6. See and compare observed and expected results on the attached screenshot! -- Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. This does look like groups. Does it cause any issues, except for inconveniently grouped, or rather not grouped, items?
With the default official Construct 2 configuration, for advanced user it may be just minor inconvenience - as there is not much to select from, and search can be used if necessary. But if any user has many third-party addons installed, each with groups for themselves and their ACEs* - this can get out of control really quickly, just by simply exploring addons and their ACEs when adding them. Working on older games, as well as porting them and third-party addons made in/for Construct 2 to Construct 3 is the main reason why would anybody use Construct 2 now at all. And I hope that Wine will work well enough for it to not needing Windows at all. * ACEs - short for Actions, Conditions and Expressions, which are the functions or building blocks used in addons for visual programming in Construct's event sheets. -- Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply.
