[Bug 18213] New: Video in WebSlingPlayer Firefox is blank/black
http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=18213 Summary: Video in WebSlingPlayer Firefox is blank/black Product: Wine Version: 1.1.19 Platform: PC URL: http://beta.sling.com/sling_player OS/Version: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: trivial Priority: P2 Component: -unknown AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org ReportedBy: kennybobs(a)o2.co.uk WebSlingPlayer, a Firefox plugin which acts in the same way as Slingplayer, connects (with workarounds) but doesn't show any video. Audio plays fine. "winetricks firefox3 flash wmp9" and native qcap.dll are needed to get this far as there is no native Linux client as of yet. WebSlingPlayer is currently in beta. Workaround is using native quartz.dll. Severity set low as workaround is use the Slingplayer. WebSlingPlayer is intended for Windows users who do not have admin access, but this isn't applicable to Wine. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugs.winehq.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are watching all bug changes.

It's hard to imagine this bug is ignored so long time without fixing. (already 2 years !!) The situation of mine is similar. I was using ubuntu 10.10 (32bit), use Firefox 3.6 with the Slingplayer web plugin in the wine. It works. Then, I upgraded (clean install) my OS to Ubuntu 11 (64 bit), and installed wine1.3. I tried to run the wineprefix that used to work, then, I got a full screen black screen, with no mouse pointer, I can only use (ctrl alt F1 to log in command mode). Then, I tried to downgrade back to Ubuntu 10.10 (64 bit), but it's still the same. Reinstall the wineprefix from blank, no luck. Install firefox 4 instead, no luck. Install flash player 9 instead of 10, no luck. I wonder is that because some component is updated and make the situation inconsistant. Therefore, I tried to use a more consistent way, I install the local execute version of slingplayer and try to follows the wine appdb, but it still fails. (the appdb is long time no updated) Finally, I come here to report the bug, but I found both the bug of the web plugin and the bug of the local execute are reported long time ago. So, I leave this comment to express my concern, especially this is a regression bug (which is told should be fixed quickly according to wine FAQ) ps. btw, I suggest to add some way to poll for bug for their priority -- Configure bugmail: http://bugs.winehq.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are watching all bug changes.

This is blocked until I can figure out why. Could be due to any one of the numerous bugs in the Slingplayers, but no error messages are given. Possible causes: http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=31620 http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=28669 Notes: Firefox 11 hangs - use Firefox 3.5. Flash doesn't seem to be needed. wmp9 and qcap are needed to get this far. Log-in and Slingbox required (there are no test signals). -- Configure bugmail: http://bugs.winehq.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are watching all bug changes.
http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=18213 Ken Sharp <imwellcushtymelike(a)gmail.com> changed: What |Removed |Added ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Status|NEW |RESOLVED Resolution|--- |FIXED --- Comment #5 from Ken Sharp <imwellcushtymelike(a)gmail.com> --- The plug-in has been updated and works with Firefox 26 and wine-1.7.9-108-ged2d53a when used with WMP9 and quartz (which are presumably existing bugs). The previous plug-in is not available so I cannot be certain if this is fixed, but I shall assume that it is. If anyone happens to have the previous plug-in (and can force it to be used) then shout up. -- Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply.
