This occurs after Bug 53085 and Bug 53086. dotnet40 stops the crash but it still exits silently. There is a crash but it's different altogether to the one mentioned here. There does seem to be an autoupdate during the installation. The downloaded .exe (Public/Documents) matches the sha1 but there could be other components downloaded. Marking as abandoned unless someone can make this work (and confirm something was actually fixed / still occurs).
