[Bug 28002] New: 1914:Shells of Fury missing audio
http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=28002 Summary: 1914:Shells of Fury missing audio Product: Wine Version: 1.3.26 Platform: x86 OS/Version: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: minor Priority: P2 Component: -unknown AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org ReportedBy: gyebro69(a)gmail.com Created an attachment (id=35850) --> (http://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=35850) terminal output (only built-in dlls) Neither background music nor sound effects can be heard in 1914: Shells of Fury. The game is running without any sounds. After 'winetricks directmusic' audio is still not playing. Native dsound.dll didn't help either. In-game audio files are stored in wav format (PCM, mono, 44.1 kHz, 16 bits). No demo available. http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=28002 --- Comment #1 from GyB <gyebro69(a)gmail.com> 2011-08-06 12:19:41 CDT --- I'd like to refine my previous statement: using native dmusic *and* dsound dlls used to work with previous versions of Wine (up until 1.3.24). Since then those native dlls have no effect. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugs.winehq.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are watching all bug changes.

Regression test?
I didn't consider this as a regression because audio never worked in the game using only built-in dlls. However, native dmusic and dsound dlls used to work around the problem. Since http://source.winehq.org/git/wine.git/commit/be158e48ad8ee556941bd3f1ff94ca7... audio doesn't work even though native dmusic and dsound dlls are installed. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugs.winehq.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are watching all bug changes.

Still a bug in current wine?
Thanks for reminding me to retest this bug. Audio still can't be heard in the game when using only built-in dlls, tested with wine-1.5.5-131-gbdd4294. Now I realize that installing native directmusic and dsound dlls via winetricks makes audio work again. I removed the regression keyword as it was misleading: audio never worked in the game with only built-in dlls. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugs.winehq.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are watching all bug changes.

Well, dmusic is basically unimplemented in Wine. Both games depend on it, so neither have sound. Luckily native works, so it's not a high priority. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugs.winehq.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are watching all bug changes.

https://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=28002 --- Comment #8 from Austin English <austinenglish(a)gmail.com> --- This is your friendly reminder that there has been no bug activity for 2 years. If so, please attach the terminal output in 1.7.28 (see http://wiki.winehq.org/FAQ#get_log). -- Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply.
