Compositing (Gnome 3 + Mutter): -full-screen mode: the installer window comes up blank and it stays that way. -virtual desktop mode: the installer window comes up blank, but as soon as the window loses focus or if I place the desktop mouse pointer over the window, the gui appears. Non-compositing WM (Gnome 2 + Metacity): it's the same both in full-screen and virtual desktop mode: the installer window is blank but text in the window appears if the window loses focus or the mouse pointer passes the window. Download link for the demo added to url. The installer is running in a Java VM. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugs.winehq.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are watching all bug changes.
http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=25786 --- Comment #2 from Nathan <version2013(a)lavabit.com> 2012-11-12 23:00:00 CST --- Created attachment 42488 --> http://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=42488 terminal output using: WINEDEBUG=+imm wine "Myst V Demo.exe" I tested this on a Puppy Linux 5 distro with Wine 1.5.17. Graphics did not render correctly throughout install, but better than previous testing. Beginning of install I had to use a couple of hotkeys to progress. Soon I was able to continue with installation using my mouse as graphics were rendered enough, but with errors. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugs.winehq.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are watching all bug changes.

It looks like that it suffers from a general limitation of DirectDraw implementation in Wine to paint on desktop window. A workaround is to use desktop mode and then minimize/restore the installer's main window to force a repaint. Probably it's a duplicate of some similar bug in ddraw. -- Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply.
