This seems to be a regression in wined3d, but due to my internet connection (Dial-Up) I cannot do the regression testing. (Sorry for this inconvenience. :'( ) Wine 1.1.38 now reports a pagefault on read access when launching the game, attached is the log. I did a full removal and new install of them, now it works fine.
