[Bug 35446] New: No One Lives Forever broken since Wine 1.5.1
http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=35446 Bug ID: 35446 Summary: No One Lives Forever broken since Wine 1.5.1 Product: Wine Version: 1.7.11 Hardware: x86 OS: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: P2 Component: directx-dmusic Assignee: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org Reporter: schmatzler(a)googlemail.com CC: aeikum(a)codeweavers.com Classification: Unclassified Created attachment 47308 --> http://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=47308 Logfile of the demo crashing in Wine 1.7.11 I tried to start the game No One Lives Forever 1.004 and it stays on a black screen without doing anything. Tracking back using the Regression tutorial I was able to pin down the following commit where it first breaks in Wine 1.5.1: 47ce8c9755ae67c23dcc485b226540227d719794 is the first bad commit commit 47ce8c9755ae67c23dcc485b226540227d719794 Author: Andrew Eikum <aeikum(a)codeweavers.com> Date: Fri Mar 30 08:38:20 2012 -0500 dmusic: Support creating default ports with GUID_NULL. I tried reverting it but the build fails afterwards and my knowledge ends here. http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=35446 --- Comment #1 from Andrew Eikum <aeikum(a)codeweavers.com> --- Wine's dmusic DLLs are completely broken. In the meantime, please workaround with "winetricks dsound directmusic". -- Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. Maybe there is a bug in the installer or wine how it copies files...? WINEDEBUG=+tid,+seh,+process,+wbemprox, wine NOLFDEMO.exe >> debug.log 2>&1 was used. wine 1.7.15 crashes. -- Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. In the meantime, please workaround with "winetricks dsound directmusic"." I can confirm that this helps to start the game. But there was some weird things. I Could not use wasd for movement, holding mousebutton 2 was used for walking. I doubt it's like that meant to be. Also had some voice issues. And I think the textures were using decreased palette. -- Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. https://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=35446 --- Comment #4 from Ronny Schmatzler <schmatzler(a)googlemail.com> --- You can set a 32bpp resolution in the launcher which fixed the weird textures for me. Adding ++screenwidth "1360" ++screenheight "768" ++screendepth "32" in the launcher as startup options may also help. Disabling music in the launcher also makes the game run without any further winetricks. I cannot reproduce the mouse/keyboard problem. -- Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.
https://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=35446 --- Comment #5 from Jarkko K <jarkko_korpi(a)hotmail.com> --- I think I selected 16bit colors. I just noticed that there are 32bit to choose. I retry the game and textures were ok. Also I reconfigured some keyboard keys, they work now. Is 1400x1050x32 the highest you can set? -- Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.
https://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=35446 --- Comment #6 from Ronny Schmatzler <schmatzler(a)googlemail.com> --- The launcher only lists 4:3 resolutions. But you can choose any resolution you want via the advanced options. There is an option to enter a custom launch command. Just enter in there: ++screenwidth "1920" ++screenheight "1080" ++screendepth "32" Now choose any 32bit resolution you want in the display tab and you get Full HD regardless of what you've chosen (you just have to select a 32bit resolution to get it to work with better textures). -- Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply.
