[Bug 27234] New: [mi] EQ overflowing. The server is probably stuck in an infinite loop.
http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=27234 Summary: [mi] EQ overflowing. The server is probably stuck in an infinite loop. Product: Wine Version: unspecified Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: critical Priority: P2 Component: -unknown AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org ReportedBy: Commander.Alchemy(a)gmail.com Xorg infinte loop when running Wine + EvE-Online and fglrx. This seems to be the only way I triggered this error. Happens on the same spot all the time in EVE-Online (when trying to log into char) and to stop the xorg loop i have to kill the wineprocess with ssh from another device. This has been an issue for many players and seems to be draging even from fglrx 9.10 drivers to latest 11.5. So this may be a wine. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugs.winehq.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are watching all bug changes.

And then there are those that have, thanks to Ravow's work with the ATI open source drivers, added certain texture compression functionality and successfully used both ATI and Intel GPUs to play Eve with no such lockups. I think AMD are the ones who need the rev-up. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugs.winehq.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are watching all bug changes.
http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=27234 --- Comment #3 from Henri Verbeet <hverbeet(a)gmail.com> 2011-05-21 11:31:14 CDT --- "EQ overflowing" happens when the X server stops processing events, typically because a driver is e.g. stuck in a loop or waiting for the result of an ioctl. This is almost certainly a bug in fglrx. There's a very small chance it's in the X server itself, but I doubt it. It's not a Wine bug, by definition. Even if Wine does something wrong here, it's not allowed to lockup the X server. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugs.winehq.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are watching all bug changes.

Understood, but if its a fglrx issue, is there a way to make wine avoid the issue why it gets into the loop. This loop issue only occurs when clicking log in on the char and its loading up the 3d station environment/space. Sometimes it happens not so frequent but last time when trying to debug a wine-git i had 11 out of 13 launches that ended up in a Xorg loop. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugs.winehq.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are watching all bug changes.

Could you be so kind to provide this workaround or a link towards it ? I can't seem to find it in the eve-online appdb entry.
