I never ever heard of any option to do so. Also the cursor is animated (turning hand of the watch) on Windows, but not on WINE. I have cursor shadows enabled (I'm using nvidia-binary drivers). I think it is not related (see below). 2. I do not think it is a duplicate of bug 16281 (see below).
