In RightMark3DSound, position the sound box just one pixel to the left and you get mostly only sound on the left, same for the right side. If you use it on a windows machine the sound volumes on each channel are as expected (meaning entirely different). Best demonstrated in this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WKfzNjz0w7s I only added the asound.conf lines shown at the end of the video, because I thought it might be 5.1 support weirdness of wine. What they do is to mix the designated >2 channel PCMs down to stereo sound. uname -a:Linux C1MPAQ 3.12.9-2-ARCH #1 SMP PREEMPT Fri Jan 31 10:22:54 CET 2014 x86_64 GNU/Linux card: 08:00.0 Multimedia audio controller: Creative Labs SB Audigy (rev 03) module: snd_emu10k1 Bare alsa, no pulseaudio or other funny stuff. http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=35683 --- Comment #1 from fdssfsfsfd(a)master.ms --- More information: Tried 5.1 sound test file and the output is normal and exactly identical with mplayer running on 6 channels (because of my asound.conf, otherwise I just hear rear) VLC player in wine on 'automatic' or directX or some other output all the same. So that leaves only wine's direct sound implementation as the culprit.
