[Bug 35731] New: Startopia: menu contents flicker
http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=35731 Bug ID: 35731 Summary: Startopia: menu contents flicker Product: Wine Version: 1.7.13 Hardware: x86-64 OS: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: P2 Component: directx-d3d Assignee: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org Reporter: billy65bob(a)gmail.com Created attachment 47718 --> http://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=47718 the menu When the OffscreenRenderingMode is set to "fbo" (default) the contents of the menus flicker in and out of existence when moving the cursor; when the cursor isn't moving the contents are absent. At higher resolutions, as in, bigger than 640x480, the menus are almost constantly invisible, making it very difficult to navigate. wine does print the following possibly relevant message fixme:d3d:state_lastpixel Last Pixel Drawing Disabled, not handled yet When the OffscreenRenderingMode is set to "backbuffer", the menu in question renders and displays properly startopia version: retail patched to 1.01B Wine: Git wine-1.7.13-186-g049f08f Driver: nvidia 334.21 -- Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. https://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=35731 --- Comment #2 from Kevin Meyer <billy65bob(a)gmail.com> --- I'm afraid I don't know. I think similar issues may have existed when I last attempted to play startopia many, many releases ago, but I can't remember anything from back then. You can probably reproduce the issues with the demo version, though it seems the 1.01B patch changes the initialization behaviour a bit, so you'll have to edit the CardID.Tom file, so the 'Unknown' section contains these lines so you get the renderer into a similar state to what I have. Tweak:SRT_ENABLE 1 Tweak:IMPOSTOR_ENABLE 1 I believe the game also recently got a steam release that is fully patched to 1.01B -- Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. https://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=35731 --- Comment #9 from Kevin Meyer <billy65bob(a)gmail.com> --- My comment from 2016 seems to indicate that a fix landed somewhere between 1.7.13 and 1.9.7. As for confirming its fixed/broken status right now. I no longer have the same hardware - Bela's comment seems to suggest it might've been an nvidia driver exclusive issue (but again, nouveau might've just been too slow to show the issue). I actually did play through startopia a few weeks ago with Wine-Staging 3.8 without encountering any issues in a clean wineprefix. I presume ORM=fbo is still the default, so I can confirm that everything works correctly for an RX 580 w/ mesa 18.1. -- Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply.
