[Bug 1347] Screen is wiped/blanked on usage of DirectDraw

I just tested the installation again, and made more notes. 

When the screen goes blanc, the mouse still finds the links on the first
graphic menu as normal (changes the arrow to a hand) blind in the correct
places. However, pressing those links doesn't make them work while the screen
is blanc.

Once I click Alt-F2, and get the graphic menu visible (together with the Run
window and the desktop menus), those links do work normally.
