[Bug 9549] New: Mouse recentres several times a second for Mystery of the Mummy
http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=9549 Summary: Mouse recentres several times a second for Mystery of the Mummy Product: Wine Version: 0.9.44. Platform: PC-x86-64 OS/Version: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: P2 Component: wine-misc AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org ReportedBy: Stuart(a)houseofanime.org Game install smoothly and starts as expected. However, at the main menu, the mouse displays unusual behaviour. The icon clearly reacts to mouse movement, but it is re-centered several times a second and appears to move in the opposite direction to the mouse's movement. Buttons still work correctly (can exit if you can move the icon far enough to the 'exit' button and click it before it's re-centered) - it seems only the motion is affected. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugs.winehq.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are watching all bug changes.
http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=9549 --- Comment #1 from Vitaliy Margolen <vitaliy(a)kievinfo.com> 2007-09-02 10:03:36 --- Can you try with native dinput.dll? (don't use one from winXP) -- Configure bugmail: http://bugs.winehq.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are watching all bug changes.
http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=9549 --- Comment #2 from Stuart Middleton <Stuart(a)houseofanime.org> 2007-09-02 11:05:21 --- I'm not entirely sure that what I've tried will meet what you were hoping to check, so I'll be explicit. I only have a Windows XP license, so took dinput.dll from dll-files.com, put it in system32 folder, and added the dll to the override list. I also changed the os from xp to 2000 in winecfg prior to running. Result same as before. I also discovered that after terminating the program, when I tried to run anything in wine I got the following response: X Error of failed request: BadWindow (invalid Window parameter) Major opcode of failed request: 1 (X_CreateWindow) Resource id in failed request: 0x2c00007 Serial number of failed request: 13 Current serial number in output stream: 15 I presume that this is irrelevant, but I'd rather say it and be told that it's irrelevant than not say it an find it was key information. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugs.winehq.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are watching all bug changes.

http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=9549 --- Comment #7 from Stuart Middleton <Stuart(a)houseofanime.org> 2007-09-06 11:18:16 --- Close, but no cigar. It's now working intermittently - that is, sometimes behaving exactly as you might expect, and then stopping wherever your cursor happens to be and doing the same centering on that point. It's as though some actions trigger the 'if' function containing the code change and some don't. Nothing as simple as the same code being used twice in the mouse.c file? -- Configure bugmail: http://bugs.winehq.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are watching all bug changes.

Moreover, the symptom is the same as bug 7640. Should be marked as a duplicate. http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=9549 --- Comment #10 from Vitaliy Margolen <vitaliy(a)kievinfo.com> 2008-02-23 01:41:39 --- This bug is about mouse pointer being re-centered all the time. The bug 7640 is about pointer not moving at all or moving really slowly. And I'm talking about game mouse pointer not the real X's mouse pointer. Can anyone else confirm that _this_ bug is fixed? Or if the problem still exists? -- Configure bugmail: http://bugs.winehq.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are watching all bug changes.

The reason I'm asking is that it wasn't ever a problem for me. So it highly depends on hardware / software / system configuration. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugs.winehq.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are watching all bug changes.
http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=9549 --- Comment #13 from Stuart Middleton <Stuart(a)houseofanime.org> 2008-02-24 04:55:18 --- I installed the full version and retested. There's a change in behaviour. but a problem still exists. The cursor is no longer re-centered to the screen, but still moves as a mirror of your mouse and jerks like hell around it's 'current' position. It almost suggests that it was actually three problems - mirrored movements; 'shaking'/'jerking'; and recentering. The last of these three is fixed, but the other two still persist. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugs.winehq.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are watching all bug changes.
