R. Dierick <o.dierick(a)piezo-forte.be> --- Hello, Issues in a single application are severity 'normal'. Read more about severity levels descriptions there: https://wiki.winehq.org/Bugs#severity Performing a regression test between 3.20 and 4.x may prove difficult after such a long time, but it may speed up things for the developers if you manage to do so. Instructions for regression testing can be found there: https://wiki.winehq.org/Regression_Testing Please, attach a normal (=without WINEDEBUG) terminal output. https://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=50221 --- Comment #3 from serge(a)stroobandt.com --- Thanks, Oliver. For the sake of completeness, I run PlayOnLinux 4.3.4 and winetricks 0.0+20200412-1 on top of wine. This method has served me well with wine 3.20 as it avoids standalone wine "wining" about missing DLLs. The debug information I was able to get from PlayOnLinux is shown below: Running wine-4.21 4nec2.exe (Working directory : /home/serge/.PlayOnLinux/wineprefix/4nec2/drive_c/4nec2/exe) 0016:err:ntoskrnl:ZwLoadDriver failed to create driver L"\\Registry\\Machine\\System\\CurrentControlSet\\Services\\NDIS": 00000001 000f:fixme:service:scmdatabase_autostart_services Auto-start service L"NDIS" failed to start: 731 0021:err:ntoskrnl:ZwLoadDriver failed to create driver L"\\Registry\\Machine\\System\\CurrentControlSet\\Services\\wineusb": c0000142 000f:fixme:service:scmdatabase_autostart_services Auto-start service L"wineusb" failed to start: 1114 0009:fixme:ole:OaBuildVersion Version value not known yet. https://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=50221 --- Comment #5 from Serge Y. Stroobandt <serge(a)stroobandt.com> --- That is really useful information! Cheers. 0009:err:wincodecs:JpegDecoder_CreateInstance Failed reading JPEG because unable to find libjpeg.so.62
Hello, I know nothing about Playonlinux, but on Debian 8 and vanilla Wine, I currently have libjpeg62-turbo and libjpeg62-turbo:i386 packages installed to get JPEG support in both 32-bit and 64-bit flavors. https://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=50221 --- Comment #7 from Serge Y. Stroobandt <serge(a)stroobandt.com> --- Thank you for the suggestion. libjpeg62 is available on (X)Ubuntu LTS 20.04 and I installed it. libjpeg62:i386 is not available. libjpeg8 and libjpeg8:i386 were already installed. Unfortunately, I am still receiving the same error with 64-bit wine v5.19. -- Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. libjpeg62 is available on (X)Ubuntu LTS 20.04 and I installed it. libjpeg62:i386 is not available.
Hello, Pure 64-bit Wine can only run pure 64-bit windows applications, which are very uncommon and currently unsupported. https://forum.winehq.org/viewtopic.php?t=33427&p=126290 Shared wow64 Wine build (the default on 64-bit systems) still requires 32-bit dependencies to run 32-bit binaries. libjpeg62:i386 is available on Ubuntu 20.04: https://packages.ubuntu.com/focal/libjpeg62 Synaptic won't display i386 packages in the default view, if that's what you tried. If you need help installing i386 architecture packages on ubuntu, please check ubuntu forums: https://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=2418075&p=13856444#post13856444 Since it works with vanilla wine, it is either an issue of missing dependency or a playonlinux issue. I'll mark the bug as invalid. Feel free to reopen if it can be reproduced with vanilla Wine. Regards. -- Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. https://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=50221 --- Comment #9 from Serge Y. Stroobandt <serge(a)stroobandt.com> --- Excellent, Olivier! sudo apt install libjpeg62 libjpeg62:i386 indeed solved all my issues. 4nec2 now runs fine with PlayOnLinux 4.3.4 and 64-bit wine version 5.19 on (X)Ubuntu LTS 20.04 Thank you for all your kind suggestions. Suggestion: Perhaps, it might be worthwhile to make wine dependent on these legacy JPEG library packages. -- Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. Stroobandt <serge(a)stroobandt.com> --- Created attachment 68747 --> https://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=68747 4nec2 memory allocation on 64-bit wine 4nec2 can be a very memory intensive program. If I am not mistaken, running it as a 64-bit wine application allows it to see all available memory.
