[Bug 16367] New: multimedia keys not available for wine applications
http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=16367 Summary: multimedia keys not available for wine applications Product: Wine Version: unspecified Platform: Other OS/Version: other Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: enhancement Priority: P2 Component: -unknown AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org ReportedBy: marc.menghin(a)gmail.com Some applications like Winamp use global hotkeys. Hotkeys work fine in Gnome for me but do not work in Winamp (Can't set them in the Winamp config). Other keys work fine there. It looks like multimedia keys are not forwarded to a application running with Wine. In Gnome the multimedia keys are identified as XF86AudioPlay, XF86Back, XF86Forward, ... So I guess this are standard multimedia keys. Several of its keys are bound in the same way. I don't think this is really application specific. http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=16367 --- Comment #10 from Alexander De Sousa <xandy.lua(a)gmail.com> 2010-01-22 10:41:51 --- Yes, it could be, but not exactly I think. At least for XMPlay when entering for the first time the configuration options related to the shortcuts the following appears: fixme:keyboard:UnregisterHotKey (0x20084,0): stub Then setting a keyboard shortcut to something (I set the "play/pause" functionality to Ctrl+Shift+P to test) and exiting XMPlay will cause to appear the following whenever it starts: fixme:keyboard:RegisterHotKey (0x30084,63,0x00000006,80): stub So it doesn't register the hotkey globally (it works if the app is focused). This behaviour is related to the bug 1348. The problem I see is that multimedia keys can't get mapped even when the app is focused. In XMPlay when setting the shortcut it waits until some key(s) are pressed, pressing any multimedia key (in my case from 0xAD to 0xB3) will have no effect unless they're pressed in company of any special key. For example: The key identified as XF86AudioPlay (in my system 0xB3) should be used it alone to play/pause instead of using Ctrl+0xB3 or Alt or Shift, ... In a Windows system it happens that way, you can map multimedia keys without any other special key, through Wine you cannot do that. I hope this clarifies the bug and helps with something. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugs.winehq.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are watching all bug changes.
http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=16367 --- Comment #11 from Marc Menghin <marc.menghin(a)gmail.com> 2010-01-22 12:46:44 --- can confirm what Alexander De Sousa wrote on Winamp. Here on Ubuntu 9.10, Wine 1.1.36 using Winamp 5.572. If I press CTRL and a multimedia key it gets recognized. Winamp doesn't recognize the key only. Also no keys work globally without Winamp window having the input focus. On the Terminal I get a lot of fixme:keyboard:X11DRV_ActivateKeyboardLayout 0x4090409, 0000: semi-stub! fixme:keyboard:X11DRV_ActivateKeyboardLayout 0x4090409, 0000: semi-stub! messages. But they are not directly related to the press of a multimedia key. They appear any time I switch from a multimedia key press to a "normal" key press (both ways). -- Configure bugmail: http://bugs.winehq.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are watching all bug changes.

can confirm what Alexander De Sousa wrote on Winamp. Here on Ubuntu 9.10, Wine 1.1.36 using Winamp 5.572.
Wow such a relief to have Winamp back!!! I'm running Wine 1.6. I can confirm that when setting Global Hotkeys Play/Pause is not recognized by Winamp at all. Back/Next work when winamp has focus. When winamp does not have focus Back/Next don't work at all. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugs.winehq.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are watching all bug changes.
