[Bug 24310] New: Civilization IV 1.74 patch can't find installed program
http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=24310 Summary: Civilization IV 1.74 patch can't find installed program Product: WineHQ Apps Database Version: unspecified Platform: x86 OS/Version: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: P2 Component: appdb-unknown AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org ReportedBy: dbenhur+winehq(a)gmail.com I have installed Civ4 Complete from DVD and added all the required DLLs mentioned in installation HOWTOs. The base Civ4 exe runs fine, but when I try to run the firaxis Civ4Patch1.74_Final.exe, it runs InstallSheild and comes up with a dialogue saying "The setup detected that no version of Sid Meier's Civilization 4 is installed. This update requires that a previous version of the application be installed." I get essentially the same message for the Civ4WarlordsPatch2.13.exe. The Civ4BeyondTheSwordPatch3.19.exe patch finds the app and runs the upgrade just fine. dbenhur(a)devuntu:~$ cat /etc/lsb-release DISTRIB_ID=Ubuntu DISTRIB_RELEASE=10.04 DISTRIB_CODENAME=lucid DISTRIB_DESCRIPTION="Ubuntu 10.04.1 LTS" dbenhur(a)devuntu:~$ uname -a Linux devuntu 2.6.32-24-generic #42-Ubuntu SMP Fri Aug 20 14:24:04 UTC 2010 i686 GNU/Linux dbenhur(a)devuntu:~$ wine --version wine-1.1.42 -- Configure bugmail: http://bugs.winehq.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are watching all bug changes.

Can you retest with the latest development version of Wine (1.3.2) and attach complete output when running one of the patchers?
I installed 1.3.2 from the ubuntu ppa and ran the patcher with $ WINEDEBUG=warn+all wine Civ4Patch1.74_Final.exe 2> civ4patch.wine.debug The behavior was the same (can't find installed app msg dialogue), output is attached. Unfortunately, the new wine version also fails to run Civ4 now. All I get is the loading splash screen for a few seconds, then it quits. I will atach the output of that run in the next comment: $ WINEDEBUG=warn+all wine '/home/dbenhur/.wine/dosdevices/c:/Program Files/2K Games/Firaxis Games/Sid Meier'\''s Civilization 4 Complete/Civilization4.exe' 2> civ4run.wine.debug -- Configure bugmail: http://bugs.winehq.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are watching all bug changes.

I have installed Civ4 Complete
CIV4 Complete is already patched to 1.74. There is no patch for this edition of game. I suggest to mark this bug as invalid. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugs.winehq.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are watching all bug changes.

Also BtS Patch 3.19 worked flawlessly. I used Ubuntu 12.04 64bit. Wine 1.5.6 without DLL-overrides. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugs.winehq.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are watching all bug changes.
