So do:

  dd if=logfile.txt of=partlog.txt bs=1000000 skip=1100

creates a file called partlog.txt of about 55MByte

Compress with:

  bzip2 partlog.txt

(should be 2-3 MByte or so)

attach the resulting partlog.txt.bz2
