You didn't state your original Wine version used for installing/running the game ('wine --version' in terminal). You are most likely running an outdated Wine version. Make sure you use recent Wine 1.7.x series, preferably Wine 1.7.20/21 I downloaded the launcher here: http://client.cdn.gamigo.com/fo/en/FiestaOnline_EN.exe (1.6 GiB) It seems a part of the launcher uses the MS .NET Framework. Since Wine ships a native .NET Framework replacement, 'Mono' might work too (I didn't test that). I installed .NET Framework 2.0 in the WINEPREFIX (using 'winetricks -q dotnet20). It helped, the launcher now asked for Adobe flash 13 plugin/player/ActiveX control and I let it download/install the prerequisite on its own. Upon restart, the launcher presented me a black window. You have to wait a bit until the embedded flash bloat/garbage initializes (churns one CPU core all the time). After the client updated itself to the latest version it presented me with a 'Launch Game' button. The game client 'Fiesta.bin' starts successfully for me (login required). $ sha1sum FiestaOnline_EN.exe 23f66f53457057cc92b5dc3732a9d9146d63ace7 FiestaOnline_EN.exe $ du -sh FiestaOnline_EN.exe 1.6G FiestaOnline_EN.exe $ wine --version wine-1.7.21-61-gf9f3b21 Regards -- Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. The .NET installer error is likely a broken WINEPREFIX or old 'winetricks' script or broken host packages. You could try a recent 'winetricks' version from here: http://winetricks.googlecode.com/svn/trunk/src/winetricks Follow appdb entry for .NET Frameworks (new 32-bit WINEPREFIX, ...). Anyway, if the error persists please visit WineHQ user forums (http://forum.winehq.org/) and seek help there. Bugzilla is not meant for this kind of end-user support. edit:
I get the following error
Note: command 'wine dotnetfx.exe /q /c:install.exe /q' returned status 26. Aborting.
dotnet packages are supposed to be installed via winetricks. for example winetricks -q dotnet20 dotnet35 dotnet40 etc The installer has changed. It's 1.9Gb now in size. Maybe close this bug and open another one if you have issues with the new installer. -- Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=36848 Andrew Nguyen <arethusa26@gmail.com> changed: What |Removed |Added ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Status|UNCONFIRMED |RESOLVED Resolution|--- |ABANDONED --- Comment #6 from Andrew Nguyen <arethusa26@gmail.com> --- With a copy of the linked installer downloaded from the Internet Archive, I cannot reproduce the originally reported issue with wine-11.0-rc2, but I saw that the launcher reports that it cannot connect to the update servers before allowing the installed copy of Fiesta Online to launch successfully. Apparently, Fiesta Online has switched to the Glyph launcher. Downloading the new launcher from https://glyph.dyn.triongames.com/glyph/live/GlyphInstall.exe, I am able to install and launch Fiesta Online for both the German and North American regions successfully. As the originally reported issue with the old launcher likely cannot be reproduced anymore due to its discontinuance, I'm resolving this bug as abandoned. -- Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply.
