[Bug 43694] New: Huge lag in BOINC Manager caused by wine-gecko
https://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=43694 Bug ID: 43694 Summary: Huge lag in BOINC Manager caused by wine-gecko Product: Wine Version: 2.16 Hardware: x86-64 OS: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: P2 Component: mshtml Assignee: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org Reporter: jylo06g(a)gmail.com Distribution: --- Fedora 26 MATE x64 BOINC Manager uses the system's parser to show Notices (notification messages from BOINC projects)... Currently BOINC (7.8.2 x64) Manager lags (high CPU) in a prefix with Wine Gecko installed. If Wine Gecko is specified to not install during creation of prefix, BOINC Manager works albeit the Notices tab will not show the notices or in other word, blank. Changing Windows version doesn't work. -- Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

https://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=43694 --- Comment #2 from Ken Sharp <imwellcushtymelike(a)gmail.com> --- I've just tested Wine 2.16 and Staging 2.16 with an x86 installation (can't test x86-64 at the moment) and it all works fine here with the SETI(a)Home project. Does it work if you install the x86 version? Is it specific to a project? BOINC x86 7.8.2 Wine Gecko x86 2.47 -- Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. https://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=43694 --- Comment #3 from Jia Yuan Lo <jylo06g(a)gmail.com> --- Yes BOINC x86 7.8.2 works fine on both 32bit and 64bit prefixes The Notices window works great Just that BOINC x64 7.8.2 on 64bit prefix is getting lags as long as you don't open the Notices window. But a few wineboot and you will not even access BOINC Manager GUI as it just lags/lock up in the tray icon wine gecko 2.4.7 reported from wine64 control.exe appwiz.cpl I run WCG fyi -- Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. https://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=43694 --- Comment #4 from Jia Yuan Lo <jylo06g(a)gmail.com> --- Tested on WineHQ's wine-staging 2.17, it doesn't lag like Fedora's wine 2.17... Something must be different in Fedora's wine 2.17 (which itself is wine-staging) -- Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. https://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=43694 --- Comment #5 from Jia Yuan Lo <jylo06g(a)gmail.com> --- Scratch that, I mixed up the installation from official WineHQ and ended up with mix results. I dont know how to test anymore :'( Just assume its on Fedora only -- Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. https://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=43694 --- Comment #8 from Jia Yuan Lo <jylo06g(a)gmail.com> --- Hi, sorry for the long silence I have retested using:- Fedora 31 x64 Wine 5.0 rc4 (Staging) BOINC 7.16.3 x64 The bug is now not hanging but rather crashing. Similar to the original bug, I reproduce the bug by going to BOINC Manager and enter "Advanced View" or open "Notices" window. This time it will crash immediately. I will attach a backtrace.txt. I use the following command to open BOINC Manager for now. The "Notices" window or tab will stop working, showing a blank page but BOINC Manager will not crash.
