This doesn't happen to me for either game. I was able to successfully install to /home/myusername/Programs/Dragon Age Origins and /home/myusername/Programs/Mass Effect

I was able to install Dragon Age Origins to $HOME/games with wine 1.1.35

Austin, this seems like something that would be easy to catch with an autohotkey test in wisotool. Do you think it's worth adding?
Wisotool isn't really meant for automated testing. I worked around it by manually creating the default install directory, and then not changing it in the installer. I'm not sure why that worked. I was using the directory tree GUI widget to change directories. Still in wine-1.4-rc2 (for Mass Effect 2). I used WINEDEBUG=trace+relay,warn+all for the above attached log output. The trace starts from call_window_proc() for the WM_KEYUP event that appears in the back trace (e.g. stack level 3 in comment #6). I noticed one warning: warn:browseui:ACLShellSource_QueryInterface unsupported interface: {00000101-0000-0000-c000-000000000046} The GUID is listed here: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/system.runtime.interopservices.ucomi... as UCOMIEnumString Interface.
