I am unable to do a regression test ATM, but when I will be able to I will use the latest version reported to work fine with the game in APPDB and compare. Unfortunately, I cannot reproduce the bug, even though I have access to a copy of this game, and the +msi log gives me no indication of where the failure is occurring. If it's not too much trouble, please get two logs: * A +msi log with the patch reverted. * A +msi,+storage log of the failure. By "crash", do you mean that the installer is silently exiting? Thanks for filing this bug and doing the bisect. Unfortunately, I cannot reproduce the bug, even though I have access to a copy of this game, and the +msi log gives me no indication of where the failure is occurring.

What happens is that the installer starts, checks the Windows version, configures, and then pops up saying that the installation failed. If I revert your commit in current git, it works. Here are the results of my investigation. The exact message it gives me is 1628 : Failed to complete installation I confirm again that reverting your commit makes the installer work.
