Strangely, running the game in this mode avoided the crash and let me change the resolution successfully. To verify this, I ran the game without WINEDEBUG and surprisingly was able to change back to the 800x600x32 resolution. Without closing the game, I tried changing to 1024x768x32 again and the game finally crashed. Then I installed 1.5 beta patch (1.497) link below http://giantswd.org/download.php?offsite=1&id=947&d=http://s149432842.online... Then the game instead of "DirectDraw HAL Wine D3D7 T&L HAL" showed: "ATI Radeon 2900 XT Display" (I have HD3850). Also f.ex. FlatOut2 detects "Radeon 2900 XT" card, so maybe it's connected with detecting driver, not resolution (It can't be HAL driver set?)
