[Bug 36107] New: Steam Fails to Authenticate, chrome.pak fails to load regression

This happens with my old 32 bit prefix, and with a clean new 32 bit prefix. The messages from your terminal are harmless, they even appear on working prefixes. If a Steam installation in a clean prefix doesn't work then your Linux distro/Wine package might be broken. I just deleted my steam folder and reinstalled it on the old prefix, rather than the supposedly clean prefix and now at least I'm in to steam. I haven't tried to play anything yet. I still think there is an odd issue with authentication, because sometimes steam just hangs for no reason at the aforementioned spot. Could be specific to my box though, which would be annoying. Refining summary since this doesn't seem to be a permanent problem. If this happens you could try with a Steam client from a Windows box at the same time to see if that happens there too (not 100% reliable method as a temporary network problem might be resolved then).
