[Bug 12143] New: Black halos surround NPCs in Fable
http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=12143 Summary: Black halos surround NPCs in Fable Product: Wine Version: 0.9.57. Platform: PC OS/Version: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: minor Priority: P2 Component: -unknown AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org ReportedBy: cwadge(a)gmail.com Created an attachment (id=11540) --> (http://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=11540) Screenshot of the symptoms In Fable: The Lost Chapters (Version 1.0), a graphical issue was introduced as of 0.9.57. Unsightly black, halo-like artifacts surround NPC characters. I've attached a screenshot to illustrate. I was able to reproduce the issue on two different systems. Additionally, I've tried rolling back to 0.9.56 and 0.9.55, and was unable to reproduce the issue on either version across the same two test systems. I'm fairly sure this is a regression introduced in 0.9.57. http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=12143 --- Comment #7 from Chris W <cwadge(a)gmail.com> 2008-09-10 01:08:27 --- After adding the following settings to my user.reg (thanks to John Moonsugar for the tip), everything works as expected in 1.1.4: [Software\\Wine\\Direct3D] 1202692143 "OffscreenRenderingMode"="fbo" "VertexShaderMode"="hardware" "VideoMemorySize"="512" ...where "512" should equal the actual amount of video RAM you've got. http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=12143 --- Comment #8 from alzen <mynick2(a)o2.pl> 2008-09-10 01:41:12 --- It doesn't for me, I didn't have "[Software\\Wine\\Direct3D] 1202692143" in my user.reg so I added it myself. There are no changes in the game, black halos still appear. When I quit the game, things I added to user.reg aren't there anymore. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugs.winehq.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are watching all bug changes.

Similarly, I have not been able to reproduce the issue in any version since, including 1.1.16. In fact, the game runs faster and smoother than in previous versions. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugs.winehq.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are watching all bug changes.

The halos are present on version 1.1.10 (installed through PlayOnLinux) and at least since 1.1.15 that Fable doesn't work (as reported also by other users in appdb). If I still have time this weekend I'll try to find out from which version did Fable stopped working (OT for this bug, though). -- Configure bugmail: http://bugs.winehq.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are watching all bug changes.
http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=12143 --- Comment #13 from Fernando Martins <fernando(a)cmartins.nl> 2009-03-15 12:23:58 --- I did not notice before the message above to set registry entries. It was sufficient to make the halo disappear. Sorry for the inconvenience. BTW, could someone explain what to do with [Software\\Wine\\Direct3D] 1202692143 it works with the 3 values, anyway, but I would like to put the information in appdb. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugs.winehq.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are watching all bug changes.

Since I was using regedit anyway, the line didn't make sense to me.
