So now I have two separate machines that have the problem (both have Ubuntu 11.10 GNU/Linux), and one that doesn't have the problem (with Ubuntu 11.04). I think the wine version is older on the machine where the problem doesn't exist.. Mouse pointer moves smoothly during mission briefing with 1.4 and with wine-1.4-143-g7b64983.
