Probably another case of something getting lost in translation between the app (in this case Steam), Wine, and the Linux kernel filesystem drivers, and the app barfing when it can't find that something. I successfully reproduced the bug when attempting to install Steam on my system (Ubuntu 9.04, AMD64) to a FAT32 partition. Hi dudes,
i had the same problem with an Steam which was installed on my Windows partition before. (NTFS)
A ls -l from the steam folder looks like this:
drwxrwx--- 1 root plugdev 12288 2009-11-04 13:58 Steam
Wine is running as the user disappear so it could be just really an file permission problem? But world of warcraft has the same file permissions and runs just fine with the standard disappear user for wine.
Would you be able to test if installation of Steam on a linux native filesystem (not FAT32 or NTFS) works with the latest GIT? -- Configure bugmail: http://bugs.winehq.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are watching all bug changes.
