Newbie questions: ddraw conformance tests

Hi,

I'd like to write some conformance tests for ddraw, and I notice that there
aren't any preexisting tests. What is the preferred way of setting up the
"tests" subdirectory (makefiles)? Do I just do it by hand?

BTW, why aren't there any preexisting patches for ddraw? Would my tests
possibly be welcome as patches?
