I've never been able to use it effectively because turning it on crashes the program I am working on.

Usually this is because a spec file entry doesn't specify the right parameters. There is also a known issue with register functions that may cause exception handling to go slightly wrong. If it's neither of these you may have found a new bug <g> -- Alexandre Julliard julliard(a)winehq.com
