yeah, way simpler ; may even work ;-)

two questions though:

- is there a need to support CROSSDEBUG=dwarf ? or not specifying 
anything in CROSSDEBUG is fine

- when using CROSSDEBUG=pdb, I assume there's no need to the -gdwarf* 
options at the same time?
