Yes, it does, but now what happens when you insert at 0? This:

  0 | 1 | 2 | 3 | 4
      X   X   X   X

or this:

  0 | 1 | 2 | 3 | 4
  X       X   X   X

If it's the first thing (which is what I'd expect), the current
code does just that, no?
