Sorry for the late reply -- I just got a chance to look
into it. It looks good, I hope to see (some version of)
it in the tree soon.

One thing that bug me were the refreshes -- too much
flicker, loss of selection etc. I think we need to
be smarter and not change the display if nothing changed.

But of course, this can happen once we have something
integrated into the tree...
