I don't know much about printing, but as I was explained it, the problem is that Acrobat Reader uses a special EMF escape to directly send Postscript or something like it to the printer and that does not work right in Wine. As far as I know Acrobat Reader is the only application with this problem.

I bet it won't work if you embed an .eps file in a Word document. Word is known to push those directly to postscript printers. Probably uses the same escape as Acrobat. On non-ps printers it normally only prints the low-resolution preview, and only if one came with the .eps. Cheers, Kuba
