Regression in thread handling

This patch <http://www.winehq.com/hypermail/wine-cvs/2003/10/0151.html> is 
causing problems for me in multithreaded apps.  In Proxomitron 4.5j (a 
local web filtering proxy) I see crashes always with two or more threads 
deep down inside gethostbyname_r.  Reversing the patch fixes the problem.

I'm running Red Hat 9 (glibc 2.3.2-27.9) and building wine with the 
--with-nptl option.
