Another report of infection. Time to integrate antivirus support?
Say, whatever happened to that SoC project to integrate antivirus support? Looks like he made quite a bit of progress: http://www.christoph-probst.com/soc2006/wine/ Stories like this http://blahblahblahblag.blogspot.com/2007/07/good-reason-to-have-antivirus-o... make me think we really need to get that integrated. - Dan

He delivered a working solution at the end and promised to add it, but never did in the end. The on-access scanning might find AJs approval either way. Ciao, Marcus

For all I know, Chris got hit by real life. It might be a nice thing for somebody new to wine to start on. Updating it to current wine and getting it in. Dan, you might want to make that a blueprint on launchpad, perhaps? (Or anyone else who can edit the Wine launchpad project) Cheers, Kai \ -- Kai Blin WorldForge developer http://www.worldforge.org/ Wine developer http://wiki.winehq.org/KaiBlin Samba team member http://www.samba.org/samba/team/ -- Will code for cotton.

Wait for next blog. Maybe then you will be able to identify company user works for. Blog is practically empty. User profile does not give any details about blogger. There is no anti-virus which can protect machine from user, new virus or targeted trojan. Every virus has a strike window. There is some time between virus release date and virus definition updates, that detect this virus. Every sane virus writer should check his creation against latest virus definitions in main anti-virus packages. -- Tomas

It might also be useful to have a guide on how to use SELinux to confine a wine instance to it's WINEPREFIX (write access, sometimes it might be desirable to still have read access to the outside). So that an infection can not be spread further than that. Such a confinement might make on access scanning obsolete. One could just manually scan when executing foreign files. Jan
