Regression: Installing Zoo Tycoon 1 Demo stalls with ALSA

Hi,

It's been a while since I tried the installation but it hangs with a
full 100% when I select ALSA as the audio driver (current CVS).
Choosing OSS get's me through the installation.

trace with +wave shows:

Any idea where to look.
