testing win32 apps with wine

Can anyone point me to a good read on testing win32 apps on linux with
wine?  I want to write scripts that automate mouse clicks on buttons,
read output from text fields, and grab pixel colors.  My language of
choice is python.

Codeweavers CXTest is supposed to do this, I believe?

And, in theory, we're going to make that publicly available
soon, but it's not quite ready for prime time yet...

(hopefully just a few weeks yet).
